Wrongful power disconnection
Light

Did Light wrongfully cut your power? Learn when disconnection is irregular and how to request reconnection and protect your rights.

What to do, step by step

  1. Check whether there was prior notice: disconnection without notice is generally irregular.

  2. If the bills are paid, send the receipts to Light and demand immediate reconnection, with a protocol.

  3. File a complaint with Aneel and on consumidor.gov.br if reconnection does not happen.

  4. Keep payment receipts, protocols and photos showing the disconnection.

  5. Wrongful disconnection may lead to compensation for moral damages, depending on the case.

After proof of payment, reconnection must occur within Aneel deadlines; generally, within 24 hours in urban areas for normal reconnection.
